BeastGames champion Jeffrey Randall Allen has revealed how much tax he could be forced to fork out on his winnings, with fans claiming the amount is ‘ridiculous’ and that he should simply ‘hand it back’.
Earlier this month, Allen, also known as Player 831, came out of the first season of YouTuber Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson’s reality TV series, BeastGames, as the worthy winner.
The victor said he initially joined the new Amazon Prime Video programme to raise money for research into creatine transporter deficiency (CTD), a rare genetic disorder that his son Lucas suffers from.

Appearing on an episode of The Iced Coffee Hour, the Californian explained that while his child does produce creatine, his brain and muscles don’t receive it because of a defective transporter in his blood.
“It presented when he was super young. He stated missing milestones; wasn’t able to sit up; wasn’t able to crawl. He’s not very verbal and doesn’t cry a ton,” Allen explained.
After months of doctors’ appointments and tests, Lucas eventually had an magnetic resonance spectroscopy scan (MRS) that showed creatine wasn’t moving around his body efficiently.

Due to a lack of funding and there being no cure to CTD, Allen decided to start doing ‘funky things’ to raise awareness, including joining the inaugural season of BeastGames.
During his time on the game show, the contestant beat out 999 other contestants, including fellow finalist Twana Barnett, to triumph in the tournament.
Despite being promised a prize of $10 million, it appears that not all of it has gone to Allen and his charitable efforts.
Why? Because Allen will have to pay tax on his winnings, of course.

“Everyone’s dying to know, how much is your tax payment?” the podcast host stated.

“Great question: I’m working on it,” replied Allen. “I think it all depends on what I do with the money this year.
“The crazy thing about MrBeast, he doesn’t withhold taxes when he kind of gives the distribution. So I literally got $10 million wired to me.
Advert
“So, it’s up to me to do state taxes.”
The entertainment star explained that when it comes to paying taxes, how much he has to send the government will depend on how he invests it over the next year.
If he funnels it into funding research into his son’s rare illness and continuing his work with non-profit organizations, it’s expected he will pay a different sum than if he just had it sitting in the bank.
“TBD. Tune in, in about a year,” the podcast guest stated.

Seemingly unsatisfied with Allen’s answer, the host pushed: “What percent do you think you’re going to end up paying?”
Allen claimed if he didn’t do anything with the money and it just sat in his bank account, then he would ‘guess’ his tax bill would be for about $5 million.
“If I didn’t donate to charity or if I didn’t give anything to a DAF [Donor-Advised Fund] or a CRT [Charitable Remainder Trust],” he reiterated.
Fans of BeastGames have previously taken to social media to reveal what they think about Allen’s potential to lose half of his winnings to tax, with one writing: “That’s ridiculous, I’d hand it back.”

A second reported: “There should be a law about game show winnings and lottery. The government steals so much it is disgusting. Think about how much was taxed before it changed hands as well.”
“That’s crazy, can’t they just make a MrBeast stable coin and payout their winners in beast coins?,” remarked someone else.
A fourth typed: “Mfs saying ‘I wouldn’t even take that’ are the biggest liars ever.”

A young Australian couple have revealed how they launched a multi-million dollar business with only $2,000 AUD in their bank account.
Inspired by a gap in the market for high-quality men’s jewelry, Zak and Frei, then 23, decided to take the plunge and start their own business during lockdown.
“The idea started after months of searching for earrings for Zak and not being able to find anything that felt right,” Frei reflects. “We could see a need for pieces that blended individuality and art. Even though jewellery is a saturated market overwhelmed by overly feminine styles and uninspired men’s pieces, we decided to take matters into our own hands.”
After taking a jewelry course and investing $2,000 into their business idea, the couple started to create jewelry from their bedroom.

Lox and Chain
“Until September 2022, we made every single piece right from our bedroom. It was challenging to say the least. Making jewelry all day left our bedroom covered in silver dust and other compounds, which wasn’t healthy at all, but we loved the process and learned so much.”
Fast forward five years later, and Lox and Chain has earned global recognition, with fans from around the world rushing to purchase their unique designs. Zak’s first creation for the brand was the Knife Fight Pendant. Now, there are hundreds of other handcrafted, customisable designs to choose from online – each jewelry piece beautifully designed in Sydney and handcrafted in Denpasar, Bali.
With hundreds of rave reviews, it seems word has finally got out in the US, as even shoppers ‘who don’t usually wear jewelry’ can’t get enough.

Lox and Chain
One review for the Memento Locket Signet Ring reads: “Indeed a fortunate and praiseworthy discovery, Lox and Chain. We happened upon these artists by chance and could not feel more celebratory. The piece is expertly crafted and sized as quoted, no adjustments. We are please beyond measure and will be ordering again soon.”
Another shopper shared, “The quality and attention to detail is amazing! Very unique pieces that are created.”
In just five years, the brand has made a name for itself selling customisable necklaces, signet rings, and bracelets – and is now worth millions.
With storytelling at its heart, Lox and Chain‘s latest collection includes memento lockets and ‘breakable’ heart necklaces designed to be shared.
Since word has made its way to the US, you might want to get your hands on the brand’s latest standout pieces, before they sell out.

Memento Locket Signet Ring

Lox and Chain
The Memento Signet Locket Ring will make a thoughtful gift, as a small photo can be placed inside the jewellery item. To make it completely bespoke, you can even have it engraved.
Crafted from solid sterling silver or gold with the brand’s signature bloodstone texture, it’s a keepsake that never has to be taken off.
“The quality and attention to detail is amazing!” one review reads. “Very unique pieces.”
Another customer shared, “Finally, a locket ring for men! I wanted to get my husband a sentimental gift that was also something he would love wearing. This was the perfect gift! I have never seen a locket ring for men and was so excited for this find. The quality is amazing and he was so happy with it.”
Breakable Heart Pendant

Lox and Chain
The Breakable Heart Pendant is designed to break apart to form two separate necklaces, one for you and one for your other half. According to Lox and Chain, this represents a ‘symbol of connection, distance, and love in all its forms’. The best part? It’s made to withstand water, time, and everyday wear and tear.
Boot Lighter Carabiner

Lox and Chain
Artfully crafted to clip onto a carabiner, the Boot Lighter Carabiner comes with a sterling silver-plated frame, and will make a great gift for people with attention to detail.
In case you needed any further convincing, one five-star review reads: “Made really well you can see the unique etchings from when it was hammered. My boyfriend loved it.”

While there’s a lot of hype about the show before its release, it hasn’t all been good press for Donaldson and Beast Games.

Back in September, it was reported that a handful of contestants that took part in the pre-recorded series were suing for alleged ‘chronic mistreatment’ on the game show.
The complaint, which was filed on September 16 in Los Angeles, called for Amazon and MrBeast’s company to pay alleged unpaid wages and expenses and that the defendants be ordered to pay unspecified punitive monetary damages.
As well as this, the complaint claims that the production teams reportedly failed to prevent sexual harassment from happening, and did not provide participants uninterrupted meal breaks or rest breaks.
UNILAD approached MrBeast and Amazon at the time.

Turns out nostalgically hoarding all of your old DVD and Blu-Ray devices may’ve actually been worth it.
Do you remember the good old days where you used to go to a video store after school to pick out a movie to rent, having your friends over for a sleepover and maybe even treating yourself to a bag of popcorn or Häagen-Dazs ice cream?
Yep, you’re old. However, as sad as it is those days are now so far behind us, I have potential good news for you if you couldn’t bear to part ways with your DVDs – clinging onto them in a desperate bid to stay connected to your childhood – because there may be one in your collection which is actually worth a lot of money.

And this film isn’t some niche indie film that flew under the radar, it is widely considered one of the greatest in its genre.
The unfortunate truth is, despite this, in some countries you can’t stream it on any platform and you can’t buy the disks on Blu-Ray as they’re out of production.
You might be able to cop a disk if you searched on eBay but you then might have to fork over a fortune to get your hands on the disks.

Danny Boyle’s 2002 zombie apocalypse flick 28 Days Later is one hell of a film, but if you were of a mind to go and watch it now you’d hit something of a brick wall.
So you can see where we are going with this. Is it on Netflix? Nope. Depending on your country you might be able to catch it on Amazon’s Prime Video, but if you can’t, you could simply be out of luck.
So what do you do if you actually own a Blu-Ray disk of the film? Well, you can enjoy it to your hearts delight or you could look at selling it online.
If you bought it back in the day with the foresight that it would shoot up in worth, it is definitely your time to shine.

I always did love this shot of an empty Westminster Bridge (Fox Searchlight)
TikToker @unkn0wns0ldier11 laid out the situation, pointing out that someone over in the US was able to sell their copy for $110 because there’s no supply but demand still exists.
And it is for these very rare instances where stuff isn’t available digitally that I am such a fan of physical media.
So, go check your collection and see if you can turn over a lovely bit of profit selling the disk.

The writer of Amazon Prime Video show, The Boys, has revealed the one major concern he had for the series.
The R-rated superhero show will return for its fifth and final season, after a gory and explosive fourth instalment.
Many fans were gutted when it was announced that The Boys would be drawing to a close, while others were glad it would be ending on a high.
At the time, creator Eric Kripke wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter): “#TheBoys Season 4 Premiere Week is a good time to announce: Season 5 will be the Final Season!
Advert
“Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought.
“Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax. Watch Season 4 in 2 DAYS, cause the end has begun!”
Many fans were glad of the decision, with one writing: “Perfect amount, glad they’re not overdoing it. 5 seems like the best for every plot line.”
And another said: “I feel like 5 seasons is the perfect amount for any great show.”

The Boys is back for its fourth season (Amazon Prime Video)
Speaking to Collider, creator Eric Kripke has now spoken about the fears he has for the show and how the team are being ‘careful’ over the ‘choices [they’re] making’, so it doesn’t become the series ‘[they’ve] been satirizing for years’.
Speaking about The Boys universe and where they go from here, he said: “We’re gonna look at the chips we have on the table right now.
“I live in absolute terror of becoming the thing we’ve been satirizing for five years.
Advert
“The thing about The Boys is that it’s punk rock, and it hurts extra hard when punk rockers sell out.
“I’m really working hard to not sell out. We do these shows because we really care about them and we’re passionate about them, and they can tell fresh stories that we can’t tell in The Boys and not just be about rapid expansion but be very careful and mindful about the choices we’re making and being able to defend why we’re making them.
“I worry about that every single day. I just want people to say, maybe it’s for them and maybe it isn’t for them, but gotta hand it to them, they maintain a consistent level of quality.”
